Yellowstone National Park was set up in 1872. The Native Americans lived in the area, but didn't designate this area as a park.

It's mostly in Wyoming, but portions of it spread into Montana and Idaho as well.

Old Faithful is a geyser that erupts on an average of once every 91 minutes.

In 1803, Lewis and Clark were commissioned by Thomas Jefferson to explore the huge tract of land gained by the Louisiana Purchase. Their travels eventually led them to the Pacific Ocean, but they bypassed the area that would later become known as Yellowstone.
