I use the large zip-lock bags for genealogy paperwork and personal papers (both are near me).
I also have a couple of boxes full of hurricane needs that are stored in zip-lock bags (like for anything that might leak, or bunched small things like first aid).

cookies I'm in the kitchen and after I open a box of cookies I put them in a zip-lock bag so thy won't go stale.
