One of my favorites to watch during the Christmas season is "A Christmas Story", starring Darren McGavin and Peter Billingsley. It was released in 1983 and shows every year on TV. It is a funny and poignant story about a boy who wants a BB gun for Christmas, but his mother's reaction is, "You'll shoot your eye out." What wonderful memories it evokes of childhood things we have all dealt with at one time or another, such as huge icicles hanging off the roof, Red Ryder BB guns, washing your mouth out with soap, getting your tongue stuck on a metal pole, unforgivable Christmas presents from aunts, and so on. It is a classic Christmas film that doesn't age.
