it has made to much of a mark to die, it will always be around. excellent question btw. i think it might sway towards conscience rap or as someone else said back to the roots. I think its gonna be a sign of the times. the black people are the only ones in this country that dont look like complete fools. white middle class as we know it is goin down and its no longer just this country but the whole world that theyre rapping to. so i think the rappers that are the most influential will take the lead with some class of rapping that we havent yet seen. but i still luv gangsta ish

the underground is on the rise because of Nas and his consciouses. Nas awakened people with his Hip Hop Is Dead showing them that theres too much partying. well partying isn't all bad but it can't be the definition of hip hop. The industry is playing it self by going in for profit when in the end hip hop will die and there will be no more profit. Talib Kweli's album is selling and he brings lyricism. Common Sense is on the rise because of Kanye West. Then we have Saigon who brings conscious rap with his new album coming which could be the next Illmatic. Papoose who is lyracially might bring lyricism.

Personally I think rap is dead. Basically all the current rappers are bad, I prefer the old ones like Tupac and Eazy-E. Some of the current 'rappers' aren't even rappers, they're confusing rap with hip-hop and it's a mess.

Rap is here to stay.. Unfortunately, most of it does not make sense anymore. Some of the hit songs sound like they were written in less than 10 minutes and they go platinum..

I think when record sales continue to dwindle that companies will stop investing in rappers and the music will go back to it's truer roots. It will be less about pop music and trying to move unit and more about making music closer to the heart. Also their will be allot less phonies around when they figure out their is not that much money to be made.
