I think it's a nice name. I've always thought the name Adrianna was a good name too, but Marina is better than Diana and Crystal in my opinion.

George Strait has a great love song about this terrific weekend at Marina Del Rey. I fell in love with the song and the word "Marina" when I heard it. I like it alot. Its different, melodious, feminine.

It's beautiful... No need to change it!
I know what it's like to have a name that's not entirely 'different', just uncommon.. and it does suck a bit. You can never buy novelty items with your name on it!!! lol
I'll tell you what I think of your other names though.. and i'm just being honest..
Adrianna - The letter turner on Aust. Wheel of Fortune who has had a massive breakdown and (I think) was caught D.U.I..
Diana - The princess with the sad, tragic life..
Crystal - A pole dancer or stripper!!
So stick wit what you got!! :o)

I could get used to it. It just sounds like one of those names where you say, "Am I saying it right? Was it Marina?" But I wouldn't go changing it or anything.

The only Marina I can think of, is Marina Oswald. She is the widow of Lee Harvey Oswald.

Because when I hear Marina I automatically want to add "del rey," I would have chosen a different name for my daughter than that. It's an offshoot of Maureen, part of the Mary family. I would have gone for some other form of Mary like Marissa. JMO. And I know what you mean about people making name jokes. My name used to be Robin. I changed it because I was sick and tired of hearing "Where's Batman?"
