For what you want, the only way to go is to build it yourself. Especially if price isn't an issue.
Get yourself a nice case that you like and then get to work:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 2.93GHz ($1099)
MotherBoard: Asus P5K3 Deluxe WiFi-AP Motherboard ($280)
Memory: Corsair XMS3 DHX 2048MB Dual Channel PC10600 DDR3 1333MHz Memory (2 x1024MB) [x2] ($530 x 2 = $1060)
Video Card: ATI FireGL V7350 / 1GB GDDR3 / PCI Express / Dual DVI / Stereo 3D / Video Card ($1500)
Hard Drive: Hitachi / 7K1000 / 1000GB / 7200 / 32MB / Serial ATA-300 / Retail / Hard Drive ($410)
Power Supply: Ultra / X3 / 1600-Watt / ATX / SATA-Ready / PCI-E Ready / Energy Efficient / Modular Power Supply ($500)
Disc Drive:
Philips SPD7000BD Retail Blu-ray Writer - 2x BD-R/RW, 12x DVD±R Burn, 12x DVD±R Read, SATA, Black ($500)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate ($380)
This will total about $5700 + your case + taxes.

I'd go for custom build PC, meaning I'll specifies each and every component (CPU, VGA, RAM bla bla bla ) and let them assemble it.
But if you're not comfortable with the idea of specifying your own hardware and you have a huge load of cash to blow, go for Alienware. They build high performance PC with all the fancy whistles and bells
check out the Area-51 ALX Best Of The Best Intel
http://www.alienware.com/product_pages/desktop_all_default.aspx
Intel® Core⢠2 Extreme QX6700 2.66GHz 8MB Cache 1066MHz FSB - Overclocked to 3.2GHz!
Windows® Vista Home Premium
2GB DDR2 Performance SDRAM at 800MHz
320GB (RAID 0) Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s 10,000 RPM w/ 2 x 16MB Cache
Dual 768MB NVIDIA® GeForce⢠8800 GTX
High-Definition 7.1 Performance Audio
It's customizable if you wants to add additional hardware such as extra HDD or a blue ray drive. But with that spec alone you could get an ogasm sitting behind such PC.
ps: if you don't understand what those spec means, what you're getting is the world fastest dual core CPU, and they increase the speed (overclock) beyond its stock speed. And you have the world's best graphic card, not just one, but two of them running together (called SLi)
It's anyone's dream PC

Currently you have a few options, depending on what you're going to use the PC for. Core 2 Quad Q6600 offers the best price / performance ratio for a processor at present - it really depends on your budget and usage. http://www.itsdirect.com.au/com_products.php?view=detail&category_id=29&Product_ID=640&sub_category=76&desc=Intel%20Core%202%20Quad%20Core%20CPU%20Q6600%202.4Ghz%20(1066FSB,%202x4mb%20Cache%20G0%20CHIP)
In terms of video cards (for gaming) the nvidia 8800 gts/gtx are the top end at present http://www.itsdirect.com.au/com_products.php?view=list&category_id=48&sub_category=69
