PEEPS I KNOW YALL HEARD THE STORY COUPLE WEEKS AGO ABOUT TIKI BARBER QUESTIONING ELI'S ABILITY TO LEAD THE GIANTS. NOW I ASK YOU WAS HE RIGHT SAYING THAT NOW THAT HE IS RETIRED OR SHOULD HE HAD DONE MORE AND STEPPED UP HIMSELF AND BE THE MAN AND HELP HIM ATTAIN THE LEADERSHIP AND RESPECT AS A VETERAN TO A SECOND YEAR PRO.

It was something that needed to be done last year, instead of Tiki calling it a career after week 8. He phoned in the rest of the season, and for that I have lost all respect for him. He used to be one of my guys, one of my favorites, due to his work ethic, and the way he approached the game, but not now. Eli needs help, especially with Coughlin dragging him down like an anchor. Jeff Fisher will coach the Giants in 08.

Tiki is ashamed of his career ending on a few years of solid performance but dominated but years of mediocrity. It really lowers himself but Eli wans't fazed by it Tiki criticizes Eli and the very coach who improved his performance before he retired. Its New York everyone is critical of everything. Plus he believes in the Manning hype. Eli is not like Peyton and ignorant Tiki Barber decided it was easier to throw his pathetic career away then wait for Eli to develop and take them to SuperBowl (which will happen in the near future let's see what Tiki has to say about that).

Tiki's credibility was damaged last year. He publicly criticized his head coach and his announcement of retirement was very distracting to the team. No matter what your opinion is of Coughlin (and mine isn't very high), I don't think Barber did them any favors. Now he's trying to be controversial by criticizing Manning. I don't think it's necessary or very professional. Manning hasn't been terrific, but he lost his best receiver last year. His offensive line has been suspect. He hasn't had very good coaching or a consistent game plan. How do you have confidence in your running back when he tells everyone he can't do it anymore. I'm not a fan of the Giants or either player, but I don't like it when a player retires and then rips his old team. Sounds too much like sour grapes to me.

He was right to call him out because he isn't a member of the Giants anymore. He is a member of the media and analysts now. His job isn't to be a good teamate. His job his to critcize and offer insight into the game; and he has first hand insight into the Giants locker room.

The real question is why do the Giants care? Why does Eli care what Tiki thinks? Tiki doesn't play for them anymore. If anything it probably helped Eli because now he is out to prove that he can be a leader and can be vocal and not comical when he talks to the team.

And Tiki is completely right. Eli is a quiet guy; he doesn't inspire confidence in the huddle. You can tell by body posture. He just isn't a great leader right now. Does that mean he never will be? No. I think it will motivate Eli.

Tiki didn't have to call Eli out; but its Tiki's job now to critique football and they asked him about Eli and he gave them his honest opinion. Thats his job. Eli and the Giants just need to get over it and focus on doing their jobs; instead of what people are saying about them.

Because Chris Collinsworth made him do it .
Collinsworth had asked Barber about Eli and initially Barber pussyfooted around the answer.
Then Collinsworth pressed the point home and basically told Barber " Listen pal , you no longer work for the Giants ,you work for NBC and the reason that NBC is giving you all this money is so you can tell America the Truth about what's going on . So let me ask you again, what do you really think of Eli's leadership skills ?"
Barber quickly remembered who he was working for and did what he gets paid to do

i think his comments were planned and told eli he was going to say that so eli can prove his vocal ability. if u think about it makes sense. tiki has always been a very nice player and would bever call out his quarterback. that is not like tiki. i think it was all planned and he was trying to help eli.

Eli hasn't shown anything, he's decent, but no where near as good as he hyped himself up to be. I bet the Chargers don't look so bad to him now, do they?
