Barry Sanders... At first glance, it seems like a difficult question, but when you consider everything, it really isn't... To begin, their era's aren't that far removed, so I don't think the game has changed that much... So the idea that Barry could not run that way today, doesn't hold water... To answer the question, consider this... Most people would agree that Detroit was lousy without Sanders, and even with him, they struggled to be much better than 500... Now, SD is a good team without LT, and with him the are championship contenders. So the question really is, what numbers would LT put up if he had to run behind that lousy O line and no QB that Detroit had when Sanders played... And more importantly, what kind of numbers would Barry put up, if he played for the current Chargers.... LT would probably get 1100 to 1200 yards, but Sanders would get 2500+ on the ground alone...

LT is a great RB, and may be in the Hall one day, but he is no Barry Sanders...

Barry Sander. This is a toughie, but Barry Sanders abilities were amazing. LT type RBs come once a decade. Barry Sanders type RBs come once a lifetime. Barry could make something out of nothing (of course LT can too...), but Barry was something special. Barry could stop, Change Direction, and take off again at top speed in an instant. Once Barry had more than a foot of room, it was always a amazing play. I have to grant that LT is a much more deceisive runner as Sanders holds the record for most runs for losses, but Barry also had a 5.0+ ypc over his carrer. LT can catch better, and throw better, and it IS LT.... So it's like chosing whether you wanted 1 million dollars or million dollar mansion. You can't go wrong.

Barry Sanders hands down, he would have had over 20,000 yards if he had a decent o-line. Sanders would dominate now, he dominated then, it wouldn't matter what era he played in, same with Tomlinson, but until LT completes his career, Barry Sanders is the best back to ever play, no disrespect to Walter.

I love Barry Sanders, probably my favorite football player of all time...but LT to me combines all the attributes from the greatest RB in history into a single unstoppable force. I remember watching him at TCU and he was like a man among boys, and even now against the great NFL D's it still is the same thing....

In his prime, I would go with Barry Sanders. Now, I'd have to say LaDainian Tomlison. The Question would be, who'd play better in the other's era. Would Sander's be a force to recon with these days or would Tomlison be the beast he is in Sander's era.

Barry, LT is a beast dont get me wrong. but watching Barry run right stop on a time and run left break a couple tackles and take it to the house. Its just unreal

ladanian tomlinson, hes easily the best running back right now and could be the best ever. only peyton manning dominates more. barry sanders was great but he never had a good enough team around him to show what he could do.

i rather have LT because he has more heart. the whole reason barry retired is because he stopped caring and loving the game. i rather have a player wit heart like LT!
