movies, definitely. because then that makes conversation after, and before the movie. so if you guys have a little bit of awkwardness, you can just resort to talking about the movie. and then dinner, it's not so easy to find a converstion topic. you get what i mean? since its your first date, i'd try to make it as easy as possible. so that's why i'd say movies. good luck!

In most cases, you can't go wrong with a romantic dinner. Although the cinema is a traditional choice, there is virtually no intimacy or romantic atmosphere as you are both having to concentrate on a film rather than on each other. Generally the idea of the first date is to get to know each other better and perhaps more intimately. There's no doubt about it, having dinner with someone is a pretty intimate experience and it may be daunting to have to sit in front of someone you don't really know for a couple of hours and eat in front of them whilst maintaining a smooth flowing conversation! The truth is it will nearly always be better than you imagined providing you follow some fairly basic rules.

If you are comfortable talking to him and hanging out, go to dinner--it will be fun. If you worry you will be nervous and not be sure how to act or what to say, go to a movie...that way there is something to keep you occupied (and maybe you'll even get a little smooch!) The movie will help pass the time and keep you from being too nervous. Whatever you decide, have fun! My first date was walking the dog!

Hmm. I usually do both. Usually eat first so the food will keep us chill for the 2 hours it takes to watch a movie.

I think you should go to the restaurant on your first date. Mostly because there won't be any distractions from the movie. :) Also, you could spend some time getting to know him. And you get to eat :D

or go to the movies and see what happens afterwards. if you guys are hungry, go to a restaurant or a fast food place :)
i prefer to go to the movies first because then at the restaurant, you would have something to talk about if you run out of topics :)

both. dinner might be a bit awkward cuz u have to sit there and talk and u guys may get nervous. in the movies you wont get to talk at all. so combine the two but my choice would be dinner if u guys talk to each other a lot already.
