It's a free standing stove/oven. GE brand, if that matters, around 10 years old. I need to know how to disconnect it and then reconnect it. Thanks so much!!

pull the stove out a little and look for a flexs connection(metal hose), At the end near the wall there should be a ball valve with a handel(yellow or red), Shut it off. Then take a adjustable wrench and loosen the nut at the stove....open window.....Bleed the stove AFTER YOU TURN IT OFF. If your just going to put it back where you had it your good doing it in revers. If your moving it to a different house, make sure you have everything there that you have at the old place. If you moving it in you kitchen, call a Lic. Plumber or gas fitter. Look in your phone book. If its pipe do as the other gentleman suggest. If its the hose don't use a sealent. the connetor seals it self.

It might be connected differently. If so EM me. I'm a lic. plumber in co. love to help.

Unplug the stove first. The gas valve, by code, should be right behind the stove where the flex line connects. Turn it off first. If its not there, you'll have to search downstairs (and have one installed where it should be). Make sure its off. Unscrew the flex line. You'll get a whiff of gas from what's in the flex line, that's normal. Make sure you don't feel, hear, or continue to smell gas escaping the gas line. If so, tightly reattach the flex line and get help (plumber). If you're sure the valve is holding, pull the stove away. If its going to be disconnected for a while (say days) you can get a cap or plug at the hardware store in case anyone turns the valve on.
To re-install, screw the flex line on tightly, slowly turn on valve checking for the smell of gas, and plug in.

There should be a valve coming out from the wall that is along the piping to the stove. Shut that OFF before you do anything!!! Then CAREFULLY unscrew the pipe from the back of the stove and let the gas bleed out. You can move it after that. Reverse this when you want to reconnect it but make sure you have the proper sealing tape for the reconnection area so there are no leaks. Good luck!!!

shut the valve in back of the stove, then turn the stove on and make sure the valve isn't passing any gas.then unscrew the coupling that attaches your stove to the supply line.It is a federal offense to do gas work with out proper licenses'.
