You can't fight an ideology. Terrorism isn't a group. It's an action used by extremist groups to attack a government. We may not be able to negotiate with terrorists, but we certainly can try to eliminate the causes of terrorism. How man terrorists would sign up with Al Qaida if they had clean drinking water, food to eat, and a job to support their family. Probably not too many. If we can spend 12 BILLION dollars a month on WAR, why can't we spend 1 Billion a month on PEACE? We can offer countries economic aid, aid in the form of food and clean water, then watch the number of terrorists dwindle away to nothing. The terrorists don't "hate our freedoms" as Bush would have you believe, They see Americans with so much water, we make pools of it to swim in, when they don't even have a glass of clean water to drink and they see Americans with so much food, we can just throw away the scraps when we're done. Eliminate poverty, eliminate Terrorism. Blowing up buildings and killing innocent civilians isn't going to win over the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people. Try convincing a child whose parents and baby sister have been killed by US bombs that we were trying to help, then watch him sign up with Al Qaida. Or imagine being a father and seeing your wife and children dead, killed by US bombs. What do you have left to live for? Revenge against those who killed your loved ones. That's what breeds terrorism and terrorists. I'm not blaming the US troops for following orders, I'm blaming the man who put them there, George W. Bush. Bush's policies in Iraq are failing the Iraqi people and failing the US.

Are you kidding me...Bush IS the cause for terrorism. If stupid f**ks like you only follow all that corporate media propaganda, you're making america 10% dumber. You can't negotiate with terrorists, but you technically can't stop them. Every time Bush decides to drop a bomb in Iraq, it's gonna come back to America and blow up in our face.

Bush has done poorly on the terrorism front... there are many reports from our own government that states that our actions in the Middle East has actually increased the number of terrorists.
And whoever said anything about negotiating?

I hope everyone reads the excellent essay written by "itsyourworld_". It is very moving and so damned true. He should get best answer. I haven't read anything about this war that comes even close to the true circumstances....until I read that!. Please...conservatives....read it. Support your troops...not the man who put them in harm's way.
