okay so I my guppies just gave birth a couple of days ago to their first brood. All of the babies though are plain colored without any markings at all. When do their colors and markings start to change? Just curious. -Nicci

yes I am aware that the adult fish in the tank will try to eat them and can succeed. I have the babies in a separate tank than the parents

Depending on the quality of the food and water they should begin to show color at 4 to 8 weeks of age.

Normally the babies start getting their colour when they are about a month old, (4 weeks) but can actually be born with coloured or shaded markings. It's happened to me before!

Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Yes..
Males will especially have great colors in a week or so..Females would be a bit bigger and would be dull colored..

anyway, you already know this but remove potential threats to your fry (meaning all bigger fish)hehe..

hope this helps!
