It sounds to me that what you may be referring to are not actually laws, but rather constitutional amendments. If that's the case, I would suggest that you concentrate on the following:

-4th-protection from the government from unreasonable searches and seizures and the idea of probable cause

-5th-right of indictment by grand jury (in a federal court), double jeopardy, self incrimination and due process of law

-6th- the right to a speedy and public jury trial, informed of the accusations against him, confrontation of his accusers, and the assistance of counsel

-8th-right against excessive bail and fines and cruel or unusual punishment

-13th-abolishment of slavery/involuntary servitude

-14th-due process clause of the 5th amendment and it's extension to all citizens of the United States
