I mean, I realize that he and his girlfriend, Kate Hudson, had recently split up and that he suffered from bouts of depression, but still, here's guy who could have any material thing or any woman he might want in life and he tries to kill himself? Take myself for instance; I have very little in the way of material possessions and I probably couldn't get a girl if she was handed to me on a silver platter, and yet even I wouldn't do that. What's up with people like that? Don't they realize when " they've got it made "?

...... i disagree.... owen wilson is a human being like everyone else. you'd think he would reailse how fortunate he was compared to other people ... but the truth is, fame isn't all what people make it seem to be.......... everybody sees glitz and glamour and wealth and so on, but they don't see the impact of never being left alone and never having a moment's peace, or your privacy any longer and never having a day where you're not being talked about....... and a lot of other things as well. I can sympathise with that, though i'm not "famous." ...... even so, celebrities are just people, they're not gods and not unemotional beings never capable of feeling any pain.... you're looking at his situation from a material perspective..... that because of what he owns he should be happy and never ever feel any sorrow..... because he's "got it made"...... but material possessions don't satisfy, and they don't fulfull....... if you know that, then you should also know that he's a human being......... and despite his reasons for his depression and suicide attempt ..... the fact that everyone's talking about it still in the assumption that he hasn't any right to have felt that way, because he's essentially "ricn & famous" is not only ridiculous, but a waste of time.... and i'm sure won't help the situation any from his recovery standpoint.
I'm not a 'fan' of his......... or anyones for that matter. i don't idolise people.... BUT, regardless of the person... i've known a lot of people that have felt that way, myself included.... and no one has a right to judge and say that someone should NOT feel depressed because of x amount of reasons. That's like saying they haven't a right to feel anything.......... which is nonesense. i feel bad for him. i know how it feels to be that depressed, bottom line. And i hope everyone leaves him alone along enough for him to get thru the depression........

what you consider "having it made" may be a living hell for someone else. just because he's got this and that, especially money, that don't mean that you are emotionally happy and some ppl just have chemical imbalances that make them depressed all the time like me.

material things mean nothing if you are not happy with yourself or your the characters in your life sometimes. and most ppl have thought about or attempted suicide at least once in their lives, whether some admit it or not.

if you don't have real support from your friends or family then money or starpower is worthless. and owen may be a whole different person in real life compared to how we see him on tv, movies etc. u don't see him in real life everyday or the things that r going on around him. he just has to work some things out and he may be having a harder time dealing with whatever's going on than other ppl do.

we all deal with problems in different ways. stars and just ppl too, they just get camera's flashed at them more than others.

papa roach said 'the things you own - own you' and it's true... you might think looking at him he has it all.... but the more ya have the more ya want and also the more ya have the more ya stand to loose...it's a vicious circle.... you have to be able to get up every day and like the person you see in the mirror... and I'm not talking bout loving yourself...I'm talking 'liking' (e.g. i love my family but i don't necessarily like them.. see the difference) so you see it don't matter what you own how rich you are or even who loves you cause you are who you are and if you don't like yourself you're F'd! You and I bro are fortunate enough that we know who we are and accept who we are and thus like ourselves... Owen I'm afraid obviously not as lucky as us... and sure the drugs probably didn't help... i feel sorry for the guy and hope when he recovers that he faces the world with an F-you i don't care what you think attitude!

What you consider valuable isn't what he treasures. He could have any woman he might want but he can't have the one who left him. He can have any material thing but he learned that material things don't mean a thing. Nobody knows what personal demons he's dealing with. Be thankful for what you have and don't envy him. You wouldn't want to be in his shoes.

Well, I'm glad you know all the answers of a human questioning his own life meaning. Since you understand it so well, go explain it to Owen and then it'll be just dandy.

P R E S S U R E.
Always having to be on and IN DEMAND is stressful. Besides that, try leading a 'normal' life. No one burns faster than a star. Pray for him.

People who think having material possessions is the end all, cure all are sadly disillusioned when it turns out to be a fraud. Believe me, I'm poor and I know it. But I'm happier than someone who thinks money will solve all their problems.

well, he must have been hopelessly unhappy. But even when I'm so sad that I feel I can't go on I always want to live to see if things get better, if you die, you will never know!
