What does the red square with the letters EV mean on the top corner of my KRZR screen ?

I just got my phone and activited it last night and now i'm just started to use it. But what does the EV indicator mean and it won't go away ?

ev means ev-do, that is verizons high speed network. it wont go away it just says u are in a high speed data network. its perfectly fine.
