Torpedoed, no.
Predicted? Just about a million Yankees fen, though the way they treat it, "ordained" is a better word choice.

No, because the Red Sox aren't aboard a ship.
But realistically, haven't the Red Sox been swept in
a series a few times this year already? Didn't the
Angels sweep them in Anaheim this year? The
Red Sox will rebound from this series. When the
Yankees lost 3 of 4 to Detroit, and the Red sox
swept 4 from the White Sox, it gave the Red Sox
a good cushion to weather such a blow. When the Red
Sox and Yankees meet later in Boston, the Red Sox
will remember this sweep.

That's a ridiculous assumption at this point in the season. The Sox were outplayed, but they didn't totally fall apart like in the massacre last year. It's possible the Sox will totally collapse, but it hasn't happened yet, and your celebrating it now is as premature as the stupid Sox fans writing off the Yankees in May.
As for predicting a sweep, plenty of trash-talking fans on both sides predicted their team would sweep. A neutral observer shouldn't be too surprised at anything that happens--that's why it's a great rivalry. For the record I said I expected the Yankees would win first and third games and lose the second--you can see it in one of my earlier answers.

Come back to earth man. as a red sox fan i saw a possible sweep by the yankees in yankee stadium however the red sox are still 5 games up and with 18 home games out of 28 left they are in the driving seat and will not fall apart after this sweep.
Oh just before i go
When the red sox sweep the yankees in fenway park in september and go about 12 games up the yankees will be 6 or 7 games back in the wild card and just looking to get the season over and done with. Never mind try again next year.

Torpedoed the season? Not likely. There are still 25 or so games left and both teams will probably make the playoffs where the slate is wiped clean. Then we'll see who is better.
Torpedoed their confidence and morale? Perhaps. The Sox were hot coming into NYC and the Yankees were reeling. The Yankees taking three straight, with not even one close game, may get the Boston guys thinking negatively or at least questioning themselves.
The rest of the season should be very interesting.

I am a HUGE Yankee fan and after April the Yankees have been
beating the Red Sox, especially at home, and with their top 3 pitchers the sweep was very possible. I think unless Jason Varitek gets injured again, the Soxs will continue to dominate the other American League Teams.

To use your analogy they have torpedoed the Red Sox but it didn't explode. With the Yankees playing the way they have been and Boston sliding, a sweep by the Yankees in Fenway will detonate the torpedo.

Karma torpedoed the Redsox season, not the team's, the fan's. After months of bragging, and reminding us everyday how far back the Yanks are in the standings.
Yesterday, the Sox fans were practically begging for mercy. every Sox fan that had the nerve to log on yesterday asked Yankee fans to hold off on the gloating until the end for the season. It seems like only a few months ago, when the Yanks were 141/2 games behind, and the pitching staff was decimated, when mercy was in short supply.

Calm down there pal. The Yankees are still 5 games back with a lot to play. We go into Boston on September 14th so you know they will be gunning for our butts. I'm just worried that we don't let down after such a big series win. Tampa Bay come in for the Weekend it would be nice to sweep them as well.

Torpedoed???? Are you serious? One series does not a season make or break... Especially one where a teams best hitter is on the bench with an injury, and his backup is hurt. SO you have to replace Manny Ramirez with a washed up has-been like Hinske.
Let's take A-rod out and replace him with Shelley Duncan... And that's just hitting.
Let's replace a solid LF with a washed up 1B.... Yeah, that works well...
Come on, there's still 20-something games left, and the redsox are 5 games ahead.
