I am the webmaster of a financial freedom and personal finance website.

The URL is:

http://www.financialfreedomtrail.com

I am trying to craft a theme phrase that will be memorable and paint a mental picture so people will easily remember to be financially responsible.

The main theme is:

"You must spend less than you earn."

The problem is that it's boring, and people have trouble living by this essential principle.

So far I only have:

"Not managing your money wisely is like forgetting to check you fly when you come out of the men's room"

As you can see, I need something better.

Maybe something like, "Spending more than you earn is like........."

Please help me finish the sentence.

Thanks

Spending more than you earn is like trying to wear sandals that are a size too small...you might be able to make them look they fit, but in the end, they're just gonna hurt you.

Candy bar or retirement, candy bar or retirement??

Is this worth my son's education??

"Spending more than you earn is like marrying a blind date"
...Uhh no. Lol no ideas like that...
Maybe something about bungee jumping? Skydiving?
Buying a house from a word ad? And you can show people outside a run-down house...?
