They aer threaded normally right tighty left loosy, but it is extremely tight, MAKE FOR SURE YOU HAVE YOUR TIMING MARKS IN PLACE BEFORE YOU ROTATE THE CRANK, if you don't you will be very sorry, ever tried to find TDC on a car with a cramped engine like this, it isn't fun. You need to get a very large 1/2 in Drive socket wrench and you need to find a way to block the crank so that it doesn't rotate when you loosen the bolt otherwise you are never going to get it loose, when the time comes to put the assembly back together make sure you procure a torque wrench to properly tighten the bolt to specs, if you don't this can spell catastrophic problems.
