Well, it's normal for the skin to turn whitish before a shed. Make sure his temperatures are in the right range, his UVB is on correctly, and that he is well hydrated. A nice lukewarm bath can help a lot with shedding. Read here for more info:

It doesn't sound like your beardie is sick, as long as he is active and still showing a lot of the similar personality traits as he was. It sounds more like your beardie is just shedding. When beardies, like most lizards, shed, their skin usually turns a dull grey or a dull white right before the skin starts splitting. Their whole body will eventually turn this color, and then you will notice your beardies skin flaking, almost like he has dandruff... it's okay... just soak him in some warm water (or mist him) to make sure he stays hydrated and keep feeding him as normal, as long as he wants to eat. He'll be okay in a couple of days. If he starts sleeping a lot or not eating, though, you may want to take him to the vet, just to be safe. But your beardie is just shedding, and it will be better soon... I PROMISE!
