Why won't it open?

When I try to chat, another window is suppose to open up but its not. When someone sends me a chat invite and I accept it, the window does not open up. I notice error on the status bar every time i click accept. What should I do to correct this problem?

reinstall the messenger ..

Probably being blocked by whatever "pop-up blocker" you are using. That's where you should look for settings you can put an exception for the chat program you're using.
