Let the width be w yards, then the length is 2w - 6. The perimeter is twice the width plus twice the length, so we get
2w + 2(2w - 6) = 504
<=> 2w + 4w - 12 = 504
<=> 6w = 516
<=> w = 86
So the width is 86 yards and the length is (2×86 - 6) = 166 yards. So the area is 86×166 = 14276 square yards.

The area of a rectangle is Base times Height.
So 1st find the width and the length. It looks like this-
w+w+2w-6+2w-6=504 yrds
6w-12=504
6w-12+12=504+12
6w=516
w=86....ok width is 86 yards. Find the length by adding 2width -6.
L=166
Base x Height is 86 x 166= 14276 yards
Hows that?

Let the width of the field be w yards
therefore,the length of the field is 2w-6 yards
according to the problem
2(w+2w-6)=504
2(3w-6)=504
3w-6=504/2=252
3w=252+6=258
w=258/3=86
Therefore the width of the field is 86 yards and its lenth is 86*2-6 or 166 yards
The area of the field is
166*86 yard^2
=14276 yards ^2
