Extinction has ALWAYS occured....extinction is a natural process..all life will eventually become extinct...HOWEVER, man has sped up the process to an alarming rate. If you want specific examples, try looking up the Dodo bird, the Passenger Pigeon, or the Tasmanian Tiger. There are hundreds more species on the verge of extinction right now due to humans destroying natural habitats and poaching.

It is important to know about extinctions occurring soon after humans arrived so we can understand the causes of extinctions and perhaps find ways to prevent more extinctions. Extinctions that occur shortly after human arrival are due to competition by man, consumption by man or by man altering the habitat. So evidence could include, the bones or seeds of the extinct species in the homes of the first arrivals, Dating of the last indicators of the species with the dates of the first signs of mans arrival.
