no matter what, everytime i wear a tampon, it always leaks onto my underwear and sometimes to my pants. it is soo embarassing!!

i'm 15, so i dont want to get too big of a size, due to TSS. what should i do to prevent them from leaking?

Tampons leak for 4 basic reasons.

1. You are not inserting the tampon far enough, only the string should be outside your body.

2.You are using the wrong shaped tampon for you, try a different brand, one that expands sideways is best (Most).

3. You are using the wrong absorbancy tampon for you, try using a more absorbant variety.

4. You are not changing your tampon often enough, try changing more often.

In the meantime, use a panty liner to avoid embarassing accidents.

Wear a bigger tampon. When you push your tampon up you pass some blood that the tampon isn't going to soak up. Try the larger tampon. If you're bleading that much, then you need it!! Wear a panty liner too if needed. That's what I do sometimes. Just a little extra protection.

You may need a higher absorbency than you're using. As long as you are careful and change it after no more than 8 hours you should be fine. I have been using tampons for 24 years, and need the super and/or super plus, and am very healthy. Maybe wearing a panty liner during the heavy days of your period will help protect your clothing.

Are you using tampax?

Thats the only brand that I ever got leaks using.

Also make sure the tampon is inserted deep enough.

You may need a bigger tampon, does this just happen on your heavy days?
