It has both spellings. Sometimes cannot is correct: I cannot get my radio to work.
Other times:
I can NOT seem to be ready on time, ever!
Do you hear the different intonations? Ergo: sometimes spell it as one word, sometimes as two.

It is a compound word made up of Can and Not.
