Which is correct? cannot or can not??

Both are correct, but in different circumstances.

I cannot comply.

I can not go, but I can also go.

If you want to put more emphasis on the "not", separate it into a separate word.

It has both spellings. Sometimes cannot is correct: I cannot get my radio to work.

Other times:

I can NOT seem to be ready on time, ever!

Do you hear the different intonations? Ergo: sometimes spell it as one word, sometimes as two.

Cannot is correct.

It is a compound word made up of Can and Not.

both of them are correct...you can say it either way...you'd think they'd settle on one version, but no...XD
