my computer shuts down on it own while standing in the normal position, i figured it was to hot so i took of the cover to check things out.
If i leave it on its side i have no problems, but soon as i stand it up two seconds later it shuts off. My big fan kicks on and seems to be running ok. I can leave it on its side but i dont know if that makes burning discs more difficult . Any ideas, im a little educated but confused, thanks for any help in advance.

check your wireing to the power sorce and the wiring where it connects to your motherboard. Sounds like you have something that isn't plugged in tightly.

It isn't dustbunnies or it would happen all the time.

From what you have defined i could suspect the Video Card. in case your computing device has On-board video, eliminate the video card and use the on-board. If No on-board video, try yet another video card. I have not got any clue on the subject of the mouse/kb undertaking. That feels like a mobo undertaking. the only achievable connection i will arise with, is that the video card supplies you the reveal. So, no on-reveal comments from urgent a key or shifting the mouse could make you think of that the mouse/kb have a undertaking. A WAG at ultimate. stable luck

Check to see if any of the hardware moves when you stand it up from a laying position. Perhaps something isn't screwed in all the way or a chord is blocking something. Pretty mysterious problem...has to be something to do with gravity. And dust may also be an issue, is it clean?

Step 1 :

REPLACE THE POWER CORD !

That would be the ONLY hardware component of your PC that may be affected by any external variation such as being upright or on its side.
They cost about 3 bucks ....

If that fails then perhaps it is indeed the PS fan that is borderline failing.

Let us know...

It sounds like you need a new cooling fan. The bearings are going out and it is out of balance. I had the same problem.

95% of the time the problem you are describing occurs because the cpu heatsink and/or cpu fan is jammed full of oily brown dustbunnies. Many times you can't see the dustbunny mass until you remove the fan.
