What is the best advice you learned from your dad when it comes to saving gas? Have you turned "green" too?

accelerate slowly. when you needlessly accelerate fast, it wastes a lot of gas. Also (not that I always do it either) by driving the speed limit it helps you to maintain a constant speed which helps to save gas as well. And try to make a conscious effort to get the things you need to get done, in a single trip. So basically plan ahead. Don't go to the mall, come home, then realize that you need to go out again to the grocery store.

Try and slow down and ease on the gas when the light turns green.

Dont step on the Gas Pedal if it is not necessary and if your in neutral gear. Try to freewheel sometime if the road is not too busy and you dont need to step on the gas if you see the red light already or where you know you really need to stop.

When you asked your Dad for the keys to the car and he says no. That way you're not going any where, hence no gas used.

my dad said that 45-55 mph is the range that is the most efficient cruising speed, maintain a steady pace is more important then accelerating and decelerating torque is more important than horsepower, and the slower you drive the better it is for the car.
