I think it can calm the savage soul. Listening to Allman brothers, 10cc and a bunch of great classics tonight and feeling very mellow, a little sad, but happy to be alive. Thank God for the music.

No. I've known quite a few that used music to phyic themselves for combat and other missions. Music energizes whatever is already there.

Music certainly has a lot to do with our culture and behavior. When real music began to take a turn toward 'noise' in the late 90's, crime rate has risen dramatically in the northeast. I was a young boy during the 50's, which by the way is called the greatest era of the 20th Century. The music lyrics had meaning of love and laughter, unlike the hateful lyrics of some of today's rap crap.
There seems to be a trend back to real music again. I don't know if it is because we are nearing the Christmas holiday season or people like you realize that music has an influence on our lives.
Great question, keep 'em coming.

When I have had enough I will sometimes put in a CD with Piano and Violin music. So soothing, calms me down, relaxes my mind. Have you ever heard the saying "music soothes the savage beast". Well maybe if people would relax a bit there would be less tension at home, the workplace or in society as a whole.

Yes. There are some religious sects in the world that limit music so strictly that you would think they might as well be partially deaf. The more music the better. Of course then you have to decide what qualifies as "great." Cool question.

I know it would make a huge difference! It is hard to be mad while listening to GREAT music! I love listening to Bob Seger, Elvis, and Gary Stewart! They just know how to soothe my soul!...with that good ole time rock n roll!

that depends on the definition of "good" music. while you and i prefer to listen to Mozart, Beethoven, the beach boys, Glenn Miller, and others of these disciplines, there are too many youths today that listen to punk, heavy metal, and rap crap. and these disciplines tend to be hateful in their lyrics.
