It depends upon the IQ test administered. Usually, a person is considered a genuis with an IQ of approximately 140 to 145, but this does vary with different testing procedures.

Dito of a previous post: It depends which test has been taken. However, an IQ score only measures a particular aspect of your intelligence. For example, I had a friend who was a music prodigy and by most accounts he is classed (by the lay and the professional) as a 'genius'. He scored only 127 and 129 on two different and both professionally administered IQ tests though.
One must also remember, tests (if they are accurate) only measure potential, so the potential to be a genius at *something(s)* in particular. I would think most people here would agree it would be pretty useless to be a 'genius' at taking IQ tests alone...
However, to quantify my flatemate has a score of 160+ on the MENSA test and I am often in awe of the speed at which he can logically deduce. I would never tell him he is a genius though :-)

I know and Iranian genius whose IQ is proved to be 180! He got his Ph.D in math when he was 22 and now he is 25, studying medicine in Tehran university. I know him in person.

The actually I.Q. score needed to be considered a genius in Western Civilization is 132. That is the score you will need to be accepted by Mensa.
