Work is not your life. Ask her out. The only tension that will exist if she says no or if you break up will come from you if you think that way. Make up your mind that if she says no or if you break up you'll behave like a gentleman and there won't be any trouble.
And just think...if she says no now, she may change her mind later if you don't behave like a jerk.

I'm a romantic at heart, and I don't want to be a downer, but be very careful. I once dated a co-worker at a small company, and it did not work out at all. I was lucky that she left a short time after we broke up, or else it would have been very awkward.
We were also peers at work, so that eliminated one additional complication. You don't want to get involved with someone who might end up working for you or end up becoming your supervisor. That might violate company policy.

If you would be putting her in a position where she cannot answer yea or nay without drama. I would let it go. The world is wide, and there is a reason why people say that mixing work with intimacy is a bad idea.

If there aren't horrible outcomes of going out with her then you should definetly ask her out. But make sure you are positive she likes you.

Don't date anyone at work.
If it goes bad, you have to see them every day at work.
