can police tap my cell phone without a cause?

i have a friend that grows pot. nobody noes but me and him. and we sometimes talk on the phone about it . can the police listen in and find the pot and use the phone call against us. we dont do anything that people no about to give police a warrent to listen.im just wondering

Absolutely. They don't even need to tap it. Your cell phone emits waves which can be picked up by a simple piece of machinery (which is accessible to even civilians). Since your conversations can be picked up by just anyone, the police do not need a warrant to "tap" it, or pick up the waves.

However, they MUST have a warrant to tap a land-line, so you'd be better off just using a house phone.

But good job for admitting on the internet that you grow pot. You know that anyone can find out your IP address, and that your IP address can lead the police literally to your door? You're more in jeopardy by typing this question than using a cell phone.

They have to get a warrent to tap your phone. But if somone was to accidentally hear what you were talking about. i.e
accidentally hear somthing that you we brodcasting out over a cell phone. This could give them probable cause to obtain a warrant.
What you're doing is a bad Idea.
Privacy is not absolute. It's about expectation of privacy. When you're using a wireless phone it's reasonable to expect that somone could hear those things by accident without attempting to directly listen. It's in the airwaves.

The police are not going to tap your phone for the sake of finding your little stash. They can but they are not going to. Sorry man, nobody cares about your operation and they certainly aren't going to spend the money on a bug to waste on your phone.
If they wanted to they would do it through your phone provider anyway rather than have to physically place something on your phone. Good luck with all that you aspire to become.

OH no!!!! Not only do they tap cell phones but they monitor Y/A and have a computer program that can track your ISP and looks for the words like gr*# and P@T and narrows the search down to within 100 feet.... GET OUT NOW!!!!!!
