Iron is magnetic, aluminum is not. Use a magnet.

put the iron in water in one room and then take the aluminum and put it on a table in the other room. Let them know that they can not speak until they work it out...

Heat it, Aluminum melts first so you can pour it off while the iron is still in chunks.
