why when i try to burn a cd in windows media player, the program tells me "CONNECT A BURNER AND RESTART THE PLAYER..."....i have a dell and a CD-RW

thx everyone.....there is no way to fix this....i checked everything possible and the problem is that intalling the srv pack 2 for windows made my driver usseles in my pc....f*** dells.

First, I recommend downloading Nero for your burning needs. I've found MWP unreliable, too quirky for regular use.
Second, make sure you have up-to-date drivers for your CD-RW and that you have a CD-R/RW in the drive. Also MWP 9.0 or better is a must, if you're using something older, upgrade it and try again.

We need more info ....

- have you ever successfully burned a CD on that PC before ?
- did you just install the burner ?
- what is the model / make of the burner & what version of MP are you using ?

Any PC that came with a CD (as opposed to DVD) burner must be at least 5 years old ...
Can it read CDs ? Etc .....

Sorry, pal .... too many unknown variables = too many possible reasons.
