big white plastic ball , looks like half moon on top of some 18 wheelers and service vans, what is this ?

wonder what this is and what it is used for

It's a sattellite antenna under a radome. They track automatically and stay locked on the sattellite while the vehicle is in motion.

It is the GPS for the truck. Alot of companies are doing that now so they know where their trucks are.
