It's not that they don't want to win. They don't HAVE to win. They are cruising in to the post season, well ahead of the Yanks.

There is nothing wrong with the Red Sox. It's late August, that's all. This is the time of year when the Red Sox are reminded that they are NOT the Yankees and will never be as good as the Yankees. The Red Sox will eventually end up in second place and the Yankees will once again win the division........as usual. It's the beginning of the end for the Red Sox............as usual.

nothing simply the offence has been off balance and missing manny a huge bat is very hard. and youk has been struggling laetly. the yankees didnt do partyculaly better either they just happend to edge us out. each of their pitcher combined a walked 16 batter but the sox were just not able to capitalize. the sox starting pitching also had a rough time which is a rare occurance. simply wait till the yanks come to boston a weeks or 2 and see how the sox are when they have manny and their pitching is doing what they have been doing all year round. yankee fans i dont mean to burst your bubble but calm down you still arent going very far.

Nothing is wrong with the Red Sox they still have the best record in baseball and they also have the best bullpen in baseball. They will win the division. The Red Sox also have two pitchers whose could win 20 games. Go Sox.

Im a die hard White Sox fan, and judging from the series vs. us, there is nothing wrong with the Red Sox. The Red Sox pounded us for a four game sweep.

I don't get it. I freaking DON'T GET IT!!!! Every single time a team loses a game or two someone comes on with the panic button.
The Red Sox are in such good shape that they were just swept by the second place team AND STILL LEAD BY 5 GAMES!!!!! Do you have ANY notion how many fans would LOVE to have your problem?
There is NOTHING wrong with the Red Sox. One series, one week, one month of baseball doesn't make anyone good or bad. Be still!!!!

OK... Let's think about this question. Why did the redsox get swept here?

1. Let's just take a teams best hitter, and give him back spasms, and put him on the bench. So, Manny's out. That's big just thinking about his contribution with the way he's been swinging the bat lately.

2. His replacement Eric Hinske. A washed up HAS BEEN who shouldn't be playing 3 consecutive innings in left field, let alone 3 games. Where was Kielty??? He's a better fielder, a better hitter, and he can crawl faster than Hinske runs. For god's sake, I'd rather have seen Willy Mo Pena in there instead of Hinske.

3. Without Manny in the lineup, they don't have to really pitch to Ortiz. He got ONE hittable pitch in 13 at bats in this series, and it finally landed it broke someone's windshield on the Cross Bronx Expressway.

4. Francona left Josh Beckett in that game just a little too long. Does everyone remember when Grady Little left Pedro Martinez in for one too many innings? He was at 112 pitches, they were starting to hit him pretty hard, and you've got the best bull pen in Baseball... Why let a tired pitcher face the league MVP? Let Timlin or Okajima come in and finish the inning.

5. Now, this is a change of heart for me. I've been a JD Drew fan all season. I don't think he's worth 70M, but I've liked the contribution he's brought to the team. But if he comes to the plate one more time with ABSOLUTELY NO INTENTION of taking the bat off his shoulders, I think I may end up in a straight jacket. JD... Newsflash. You can't hit the ball unless you swing. CMW was throwing meatballs at him today, because he knew he wasn't going to swing. Clemens gave him back to back 90 mph fastballs last night RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE and he literally stood there with the bat resting on his shoulder.

6. OK. I think MIke Lowell is this teams MVP, but he's got to dig that Varitek throw up. A gold glove 3B has no excuse for a one hopper getting past him on a stolen base attempt. He had no shot at getting the runner, he's got to keep that ball in the in-field.

7. By and large, the biggest problem is that they couldn't put runs on the board against a not so good pitching staff. Roger Clemens should consider that the luckiest win of his career. Any team should have gotten about 12 or 14 hits against him last night. He really didn't pitch that well. (Don't get me wrong... I love Clemens. I consider him the best pitcher ever)

There is nothing wrong with them...they still have the best record in baseball and they are 5 games ahead of the Yankees for the division...I am still pretty confident they will win the division.

I know how you feel, the M's totally blew it against Anaheim. If it makes you feel any better the Sox have a easy schedule next month, and I still think they're gonna win the division.
The M's are collapsing at the moment, why must they do this to me?? it sucks.

I know. I am so damn depressed right now. They had better pick it up against the Orioles, Blue Jays, Devil Rays and the rest of their schedule, including the three with the Yankees at Fenway, or it will be a repeat of 2005.

whats wrong with the redsox??heres it......they didnt have manny for the series and his one of the best hitter in that line-up.two i just dont think they were focused enough.may be they thought that it will be a easy series for them because the yankees had been playing awful in their last series so because of that they thought that they would just run over the yankees. the redsox will get the yankees back at fenway............and last time i checked they are still 5 games out of the division.
