Dear orb,
i think with the inconsistency of their starting pitching that its highly unlikely that they can make up 5 games (especially considering that they just swept the Sox and are still 5 games back). Both teams have pretty cushy schedules down the stretch- so barring some meltdown by the Sox i doubt they will win the division.
Howeve, they are looking good and tied for the wildcard lead. And the Mariners have been inconsistent and not much better with their starting pitching. If i had to choose between the Mariners and Yanks i'd go with the Yankees.
i don't think they have enough starting pitching to win in the postseason. They are depending on aging veterans whose better days are behind them: Clemens, Pettite, and Mussina (who has been a mess). Wang is there only really consistent and reliable starter. Hughes, Kennedy (inconsistent), Jaba (not ready)-- so really starting pitcher wise they are in trouble and pitching wins in the post-season.

Possible yes, probable no. I think they'll win the wild card tho, and as long as u make the playoffs anything is possible. look at all the wildcards that have won the past few years. And the cardinals werent much above 500 last year and they won it all. All it takes is a chance.

Dude stole my line. Possible yes, probable no. The Yankees won't win their pennant, but if Seattle loses, they have the Wild Card lead. They have to stay consistent, or they won't make it to the playoffs. Cheers! GO A'S!!

They have too many players that will be free agents. It's the last time in the next few years that they'll have a chance for the playoffs. A-Rod & Damon can't wait to get out of N.Y. & back to normalcy. Yankees are deep in tradition but....WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR ME LATELY??? I heard the Tigers may buy out Pudge's last year of his contract if they can sign Posada.
