You won't want to hear this. But the truth hurts, more often than not

rule #4, or #5, depending on which denomination you ascribe to....

Honor thy Father and thy Mother.

The vast majority of parents make decisions for their children like this based on their belief on what is best for their children.

Sometimes they are wrong. Most times not.

But, the fact that they have more life experience, means they are more likely to be right than you are. Which is really the reason that rule is included in the ten commandments.

Well my parents are NOT like that in the least, they couldn't care less.
But my friends have parents like that so ,
talk to them responsibly and tell them its just a way of keeping in touch with camp friends or out of town friends or w/e, and don't interrupt, yell or say anythoing like 'everyone else has one' or anything about 'other parents doing things'.
Show them the safety features like not being able to see somebodys profile unless they accept you as a friend and promise them you wont accept any friends who are more than like 5 years older than you or that you don't know.

I understand what you going trough. What you can do is talk to them and tell them that you understand that they are worried about you but you need a little more space, I don't know how old are you but I sure they will understand, but learn to listen to them try not to argue and try to have more conversations with them and trust me they will give more space because you are letting them be part of your life

good luck

idont know how old you are, but they have a valid concern. If you want to get their trust, you have to earn it. if they still wont give you a brake, try a child/parent confrence with some kind of counseler or something

my mom put me through that til i moved out. i was never allowed to stay home alone, she'd sit next to me while i was on the computer, an she listened in on my phone calls.

i wish i could tell you it gets better, but that'd be a lie.

i moved out a week after i turned 18.
