When I hear a politician mention religion, the first thing I do is feel my pocket to see if my wallet is still there.
That ploy is a substitute for Ideas leading to good policy and it usually works because 50% of all adults have below-average intelligence.
I am opposed to the death penalty, but I could make an exception for the electoral candidate who talks about religion or stand in front of a flag or wears a lapel pin with a flag or professes his patriotism.

Both appear to be toning down the religious dialog, although Mr. Bush is not known for spewing religious hatred
at our supposed enemies.
The extremists unleashed a hell in their
homelands. They want to do the same in the rest of the world. Our president talked of faith based initiatives. Not exactly a Jihad is it?
Peace may happen in the middle East, brought about by reasonable people who pray, go to church, synagogue and mosque, and seek
viable solutions to wanton destruction and bloodshed.
God Bless! peace

Bush certainly used the religous right for votes.
Ahmadinejad I have no idea. However I feel very confident that we will invade Iran before Bush leaves office. The war drums are beating louder and louder. It certainly would not surprise me if Bush felt that God told him to start Armageddon already. Its one thing to talk to God, its another
when he talks back.
Ugh.

I don't believe that, but seems you do.
I wish Ahmadinejad was your leader.
@LB, those "teens and young people" are going to give you thumbs down because they haven't got a CLUE what living in a bad country really is. An ungrateful generation trying to emulate the 60's hippies who OUGHT to go live abroad and maybe find a better country for themselves.
Figures you'd believe the BBC who have admitted their bias against Americans over your own government, youngster.

You're an embarrassment, fellow Atheist.

Yes. But in Iran they are at least forthright about living in a theocracy. Here in the USA we pretend we dont but look at Alabama they have the 10 comandments everywhere, the republican party claims christianity. I have seen people on here state they wouldnt vote for someone who was an atheist. So for many they wouldnt have anthing but a christian theocrat running our government.

It always amazes me that teens and young adults today have trouble with this question. When is the last time that you saw Religious police in America? Has anyone besides your parents ever told you that your clothes were too revealing and that it would make you subject to arrest. A theocracy, like Iran, means Ahmedinijad's religious police tell everyone how to think and act all the time. Forums like this one would be illegal. Honestly, you must go to some dumpy inner city school to ask a question this stupid.
