Prior to using Yahoo Politics I used to think 50% of the people are morons.
Now I'm absolutely sure it's more like 70-80%.

I've learned alot more about politics and people who vote. Unfortunately for parties and voters, I learned most aren't looking at the picture clearly enough.
It turns out more people than I thought look only at one side of the story, even though this is a great place to view both sides and more of the story. I've also learned that far too many Americans are not properly informed on how our political system functions, and are not always treating it so fairly for the majority of the nation. I've learned than there are pleanty far left and right loonies yet there are more moderates and independants than I thought.
Aside from all of the bad things, I've now seen many different political prespectives and ideas from all parties which has really changed my own out look on things, broadening my own politics. The ironic thing is that Answers has made me never want to return to either of those two sides who form the biparty system.
Thanks to Answers, I am well assured that I am a hybrid of a centrit/3rd way moderate with views that can sometimes lean towards the democrats and other times towards conservatives, yet quite freaquently to the green party. Many of us learn who we trully are politically through creations like yahoo answers.
I've also learned it's a great place for politician bashing even though it's childishy innappropriate yet still funny.

I think it's enjoyable and entertaining and now and then you do get some insight you didn't expect.I regret yahoo has such a hard time stopping clones and trolls.Met some very interesting people here
I have learned that the political climate in America is seriously poisoned by the far right to an extend I didn't expect.
I know even feel strongly from what I can see here on European media and what American politicians tell here or what we get to see of that,US politicians are aware and want to shield allies from knowing what the American right really is about.Just look at this speech Bush gave when visiting Belgium and compare it to the conservative talk about Europe here.A world of difference
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/02/20050221.html
I learned about conservative hate radio which demonizes political opponents in ways fitting to a fascist regime.
I learned that many well meaning left Americans are also infected by this continued propaganda effort and sometimes let the far right decide what and who they are and or follow the logic of these fanatics.

Obama is a sellout to special interest and I found out about Ron Paul. Those were pretty big revelations for me. I learn something almost daily here and this is how I get much of my news because everyone here has a different source for information. I think thats better than reading the newspaper or watching TV.

I see that there are a lot of unemployed people who have WAY too much time to "Answer" and should be out looking for a job.
I see there are a lot of people who won't even consider other point of views besides their own, narrow vision.
I see a lot of people who are obviously ill informed on the issues of the day.
I see Liberals and Conservatives sparring instead of sharing idea's.
I see a great dislike for our President.
I see that Yahoo! is tilted clearly to the left.

I have learned a few things
1) People are more likely to espouse radical viewpoints while sitting anonymously behind a keyboard.
2) Many people have no idea whatsoever how our government works, and what the individual parties stand for. They would rather parrot the talking heads of their respective parties.
3) The ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me, yet there are bursts of intelligence interspersed with the rhetoric.

I think the site is fun. I have met some pretty cool people.
As far as for what I have learned. I have learned some people have way to much time on there hands and take this site far to seriously. Oh and that most of the conservatives on this site are total reactionaries

I have learned that many people come in with preconceived ideas and opinions that are largely rooted in misinformation. However, they seem to cling to them like birds in a tree during a storm, regardless of what is shown to the contrary.

I think it's great fun. I've learned that propaganda seems to move in waves- you'll hear something ridiculous in the morning, and you'll hear the same ridiculous claim repeated throughout the day, no matter how thoroughly it was put down the first time.
Good question!

Sometimes I see clever answers, but the forum does not really allow for much debate (true for all Yahoo Answer subjects). Bring back Yahoo discussions, I say.
