I use a Roomba vac and it works wonderfully well on hardwood floors and carpets.It moves easily from one surface to another,and it hasn't fallen down my stairs to my bedroom yet!
I have 4 dogs,2 cats,and 4 parrots,so I needed something that would clean,but not break my back.I have been using the little thing for years now,and am continually pleased with how hard it works.I intend to get a Scooba as soon as I can afford it!!
Plus,it makes cute little noises when it starts,stops or needs help.(if it should get stuck or one of the cats is riding around on it!) ;)

I use a Roomba sweeper or vacuum and LOVE it! It goes seamlessly between carpet and hardwood. (We don't have a Scooba & I don't know how they work)
