okay I didnt mow my lawn first...so I have a spray called Weed b gone...and i sprayed it on grass and not the root but then i started spraying it on the root....are you supposed to spray it on the root? do u have to...and it just rained so right after it rained I applied it on the weed again?

You will probably have to reapply. You spray on the leaves so that the plant will absorb it and take it all over including down to the roots. Try to put it on during a sunny day with no chance of rain - that lets it sink in.

No you don't need to spray it on the roots. The weed will absorb it through its leaves and work down to the roots. Although you may have to spray a couple of times to totally get rid of the weed.

The other two answers offer sound advice. Also mow the lawn first. Weed b gone(all weed killers) work better on short weeds.
