i love history..good questions, if people will read the info.

i think one poster was referring to: "At the top were the consuls, who were two patricians elected to the office for one year. it all depends on what period of the roman empire you are talking about (it lasted for many centuries). The senate was at a time the most powerful, but when you came to the times of leaders like Ceaser then the emperor was the most powerful. During the beginning when Rome was still a Republic the people were the most powerful.

False. It was the "veto" which the poor people had so they could have some power in Government.
