I'm not convinced that Thompson brings any fire to the situation. Basically he's a rumpled old timer that's just another Bush in his thinking, in his politics and his policies. Nothing new. He's sort of like buying 'Fruit of the Loom' underwear. Serviceable, fairly good quality for the money, but not much more than that. Does the US, in the situation it's in now really need some old dufass leading the parade? If Fred is the best new face they have, a face that's bound and determined to shlep everything that's bogus in the GOP's bag of tricks out for another four years, it's a party in trouble..as if it doesn't have enough trouble as it is!

Well, it is Labor day and this time will be the stretch run period for the candidates just before the primaries. If he's jumping in, strategically this would be a good time.
And yes he's had a lot of build up before announcing. If he doesn't live up to the hype, the other candidates will smack him around over the next six months. The Republican nomination is going to be about as dirty as it can get.

I enjoy how conservatives celebrate the coming of their savior because in one effort they admit what everyone besides them has been saying all along. That the current GOP candidates are jokes and none of them have any chance to become President.
We don't need it but it's great fun if you see it in the right light

No, We all know he is going to run, shake things up a little bit and then eventually fall either to Mitt or Gulianni in the primaries.

Considering polls are showing him 1 or 2 points back of Hillary, or even ahead of Hillary. Yes I think America is quite happy he is coming into the race.
