When I was in denial I was 'homophobic'... I used my Christian beliefs to support my reasons for not coming out... but now I am comfortable with who I am...
So... I personally think it's a pretty accurate article.

I think that it applies to the older species of homophobe, because the only homophobes that exist nowadays are BLATANT trolls who have too much time on their hands. If they are gay and are striving to hide it, that's an overkill.
As for joining the crowd and uttering slurs like everybody else... that's more applicable to the study but wouldn't be CALLED homophobia persay... i don't think.
Unless, closetedness is another word for light homophobia..
The homophobia taht goes on in this type of individual isn't a fear of gay ppl but a fear of being 'outed'.

I think homophobia is prettymuch made up. My mother in law has ophidiophobia - she can't even look at a picture of a snake, if she sees an actual snake she absolutely panics. I've seen similar reactions from arachnophobes. I've never seen or heard of anyone responding that way to a gay couple.

I have a freind who meet that decription once he used to be a huge homophobe now he has accepted the fact he is bi.
