Wow, um, how is that possible? I guess if you had some kind of disorder, or were isolated.

I think that is unfortunately true. Wouldn't it be great to have that perfect soul mate? I'd like to think that I am constantly evolving and changing-learning new things. So unless you spend a lot of time with me, it might be hard to figure out just where I'm at. But then I have a couple of good freinds that know certain core beliefs of mine and those don't change and you can rely on them. I don't think you ever really know someone even if you've lived with them for years and years. Thank God they can still surprise you.

It's not unusual. Especially in a relatively individualistic society such as what we live in. Even some "social" organizations are merely groups of individuals. It's a rare group that actually gets beyond the shiny patina of life and down to the nitty gritty. Most folks don't know that many people they're actually comfortable with enough socially to admit that things aren't really ok. Of course, those people are usually described as "real friends" or even "family".
It takes time to cultivate those relationships, but it also takes effort. Lots of effort, usually.
If you don't make the effort to really get to know them, why should they make the effort or take the time to get to know you?

Well I have been around for 36 years. Some would say that is a long time and others not but I don't think any one really knows me and I don't think they ever will.
