No...someone who is an adulterer is someone that is cheating while married. Someone that cheats and isn't legally married...is simply a cheater.

Technically its not adultery you are quite right. However, if you have a long established relationship and someone cheats then they are as bad as an adulterer so I think its splitting hairs to argue the point.
