I told my husband what I wanted for my birthday, and he ordered it for me. Today is my birthday, and although the presents are here, they arent wrapped, he didnt get me a card, no cake, and no dinner. When my feelings were hurt, he told me that I should have told him what I wanted. His excuse was that he didnt have time to get any of that other stuff because he has been so busy. Is it too much to ask for him to think of that stuff on his own? His is mad at me or something now, and isnt even here. He said that nothing is ever good enough for me. What the hell?

Well, he definitely should have done more. However, I learned something when I was a kid: my mom would always have huge expectations about what her birthday/mothers day would be like. It always turned out to be the worst day for all of us because it didn't turn out like she wanted. So I learned this, and I'm trying to show my wife too: Expect nothing, don't wish for anything, don't think of it as your special day or your day off. Then, when good things happen, which they usually will (its your birthday isn't it?), you will be a lot happier than if you expected those things. Thats what I do and it works wonders. In your case, your husband might be a bum, but let him know how you feel, do something really special for him on his birthday, and I bet next year will be better.
Good Luck!

I think he's right... C'mon, you got a gift - give him a break. If he treats you with respect every day of the year, who cares if he didn't have the time to get the giftwrap. If he DOESN'T treat you with respect - you have a much bigger problem on your hands than an un-wrapped gift.

Tell him that next year it would be nice if he did a), b) and c), and I'm sure he will try his best to comply.

Most men don't get the whole b.d. thing. Does he expect a big deal on his birthday? If not, then just write it off as a typical idiotic thing that a stupid male would do. Does he show his love every day in other ways? That' s what's important here!

I hate to say it but it sounds like you are spoiled. The gifts are not important...its' the thought that he went and got want you wanted. Now... your still aren't satisfied. Why didn't you confirm with him days in advance and ask where the two of you were going for dinner on your birthday? Guys don't think like girls... so don't expect him to.

Unfortunately, when he said "I was too busy to get those other things for you" he really said "I was too busy to think of you". *bzzt*

If he really is that busy and distracted, then perhaps there is something serious on his mind. In this case, try to find out what that might be.

If not, then he was just being lazy. He'll have to make it up to you.

He should have taken the time to get a card for you or even made a card. There really is no excuse for him not too....

Buy a cake and splurge on gifts for yourself. When it's his birthday buy him a cheap card and tell him you didn't have time to buy him anything else.
