Alot of people say Mr. Bush is " ignorant " or " stupid " , but I believe that is somewhat of an act based on the way the man acted after 911 . The speech written below is one that moved me and one I bet an " ignorant " person couldn't write or even comprehend , yet Bush did and it still moves me , here it is -
"Great harm has been done to us. We have suffered great loss. And in our grief and anger we have found our mission and our moment. Freedom and fear are at war. The advance of human freedom, the great achievement of our time, and the great hope of every time, now depends on us. Our nation, this generation, will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause, by our efforts and by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail"
President George W. Bush
Address to congress and the nation, September 20,2001
Question - Anyone agree his " ignorance " is an act ?

I don't agree with half of what the president has done, but what he has done has been done because it is what he believes needs to be done. (Did that make sense?) The man is far from stupid, but it fit the conservative stereotype that liberals like to trot out. They point to his Texas accent, forgetting that how someone speaks is more indicative of their culture than their intellect. But again, it fits their stereotype. There's a bigotry here. I think a better example of his intellect can be seen in his debates with both Gore and Kerry. You can debate 'who won', but he not only held his own with these two liberally proclaimed intellectual giants, but many believe he bested them. But again, to admit this goes against their ingrained belief.
Further, I believe he's a good man and an HONEST man doing the best he can in a very, very complex and dangerous situation. A situation that will dog him well beyond his years as president. He AND his family will always be the high value targets of any psychotic islamic thug looking to make a name for himself. Still, he continues telling it the way he sees it and doing what he thinks needs to be done. There's just a lot of hate out there that clouds their every thought or impression of this president.

What he says or does is irrelevant it is the agenda that he is pushing for that is the main thing. Remember he never said it for the good of the people. Just step back and watch because that is all you can really do anyway. You can holler and get harassed for it or you can play the system and when the time comes disappear. He knows what he is doing every step of the way, but he likes to keep the people ignorant. That's what they all like to do have you looked up the CFR yet it's interesting. Who is behind the CFR runs it all.

Not so much an act as a perception cooked up by the Media. President Bush and the Media have been at war since he's been a politician.
As you know, perception is everything. I saw an interesting quote in Dan Brown's Angels and Demons yesterday.
"The Media is the right arm of Anarchy."
Sounds logical to me.

Bush most certainly did not write that speech and probably couldn't even begin to comprehend it either. Because if he did then he would've understood that HE is using fear to take away our freedoms. He isn't ignorant, he knows exactly what he's doing. He's apathetic! He doesn't care what he does, as long as it furthers his agenda and his agenda is NOT acting in the best interests of the American people!

What I would like to see is President Bush take on more hardcore questions from reporters. That would give me a better way to determine the character of this man.
Prepared speeches are one thing. Spur of the moment responses from the press asking hardcore questions is another.

He has people who write his speeches, which all presidents have had - personally, I think Bush is proof that going to great educational institutions doesn't mean that your any better educated than anyone else. Bush sucks - glad he's gone come the next election. Don't like Democrats because they want to take all guns from all Americans, and don't like Republicans because they only look after their rich and privileged friends, example " Billionaires for Bush " club. Not millionaires, billionaires!

Since he is "stupid" and can't be "smart" it must have been a speech writer who did it.
No proof, just assumption. I don't know who wrote it, nor did your first respondant.
I do know that I have never seen a person so completely adopt the advice of "The Art of War", an ancient book on strategy, so effectively in my life. Combined with someone who has ethics and doesn't care about the polls or being "popular" it has been amazingly effective.
I'm a democrat. But I'm not stupid. I saw through the dumb act very early on. My party didn't and we've paid for it. We've even served his purpose.

The overwhelming majority of persons decide anothers intelligence based on the likes/dislikes. Every Republican President since Eisenhower has spoken with a halting, stuttering fashion; the most intelligent President of the 20th century was one of them, Nixon.
President Bush is not "ignorant" nor "stupid"; he has the guts to do what should be done, unlike his predecessor.
Please see Richard Miniter's New York Times bestselling books, "Losing bin Laden: How Bill Clinton's Failures Unleashed Global Terror" and "Shadow War: The Untold Story of How Bush is Winning the war on Terror". Miniter is a fellow at the Hudson Institute.
So, obviously, if anyone is "Ignorant" or "stupid", it was Clinton.

I do not for one moment believe that the Esteemed Mr. Bush is stupid or ignorant (he is a pretty bad public speaker which leads to that image) and my opinion of his policies are not germaine to this question. That said, we must remember that most likely he does not write his own speeches. There are people that do that work for him.
