The class I am in right now is mixed with the BC calculus and the teacher wants the AB kids to learn BC stuff as well. The problem is if I learn both I'm afraid I might fail the class because just doing AB seems easier. Should I just take calculus in high school or learn it in college? Will this make me look bad? Please help.

Hey there!

Dropping out of AP Calculus AB, will cause a bad reputation on you. Just relax! Don't worry. You have to study a little more, than usual, that's all. Also, remember that if you have any questions regarding Calculus, you can always try to post them in yahoo! answers, so that we can easily answer them.

Just don't overdo it.

By the way, if you class is mixed with BC class, and your teacher wants you to learn BC calculus, you have an advantage of what calculus BC will be! It also helps increase your GPA, providing you an access to the college of your dreams!

Hope it helps!

You should take it as long as it doesn't mess up your first semester grades. By second semester, you should be in senior slump mode anyways. By taking it and passing the AP exam, you could get college credit for it. That's what I did, but ended up taking it anyways again in college because it was an easy way to get a high grade. Didn't even have to study for it.

Try it.

Do your best. Don't slack off. Go to the teacher with questions at every opportunity.

Don't drop it unless you are badly failing and cannot seem to pass, no matter how hard you try. But don't cheat yourself. If you are just too lazy to do the work, then you need to get un-lazy really quickly!

It will be harder in college.

Tough one. If you were to drop the class it wouldn't hurt your chances of getting into the college you want. If you did stick with it and passed it would help your cause. If you really think you'll fail the class then you should drop it.

you might have some trouble but that's what your teacher is there for. I had ap calc but only one of the kids was bc... i dunno, just enjoy it, it should be a fun class.

If you work hard and study hard, then you won't fail. It looks good on your college app when you challenge yourself with these kinds of classes.

Absolutely, drop it, and do the easy thing. I mean, who wants a challenge anyway? I'm sure college will have plenty of easy classes, so why take hard ones now?
