Public- I guess may mean personal. People born in the 30's (like my Dad) don't like to discuss sex whereas I think it is better to. (I was born in the 60"s)
Political- FCC regulations. People born in the 80's and later grew up with cable and all of the crap it contains so restrictions and guidelines seem to be less of a concern than to someone older (60's)- who was thankfully free of the mind numbing garbage during very impressionable years.

Funding for education is big--the grandchildren of the elderly often do not live in the same neighborhoods as grandparents, or the elderly may not have any children or grandchildren of school age, so when it comes time to vote to pass school levies, the elderly tend to vote against them. The elderly also have expenses like prescription drugs that make it hard for them to vote to raise their own property taxes. School funding will likely continue to suffer if the U.S. doesn't find another funding source--the elderly population is going to double by 2025 because of aging baby boomers.

Do your own homework.

As you get older, it's not the first time around. Things begin to repeat so you react differently the second time and certainly the third. Youth sees in black and white and maturity adds a lot of grey.

Winston Churchill famously said "If you're not a liberal at 20, you have no heart; and if you're not a conservative at 40, you have no head."

A public example would be the average age of a classical concert-goer and the average age of a fan of hip-hop.
