I'm sure this is on every pregnant mothers mind, but i can't seem to get it off mine. I know what happens when a woman miscarries before 20 weeks, but what happens when a woman loses the baby after 20 weeks when it's concidered a still birth? Same things as a misscarriage? I'm scared that my body will not let me know when something is wrong. My pregnancy is great so far. I didn't bleed, or spot any time during this one, or the first one. But just something that sits in the back of my head. I'm trying to enjoy my pregnancy. Thanks for your information!

Many things can go wrong in a pregnancy...but with the advanced technology, more and more babies can survive at younger and younger ages. After 20 weeks the baby is concidered a still birth because technically, a female baby that young CAN survive...it isn't likely, but it has happened. In fact, 14 years ago, my cousin was born at 22 weeks and she is alive and well today. It is amazing what doctors can do to keep a baby alive.
For you...I worried my whole pregnancy too...you know, I found that you should trust your instincts...mother's intuition is a great thing. I imagine you already know that. If you feel something is wrong...get it checked out...even if you feel silly about it. You would rather have a million nopes, than one yes and have a problem that could have been corrected. Good luck and boy are you lucky to have a great pregnancy so far!

with my second baby i delieverd at 23 weeks. i don't know what you mean by what happens?
he was born and had a heart beat for 2 hours and 41 min but he was concidered still birthl.
you deliver them just like a normal baby which is the worst part.
my water broke and i went on hospital bed rest and a week later i started contractions and had to push him out.
he was 1 lb and .5 oz
anything under 24 weeks isn't concidered viable and they won't try any medical miracles. depending on what the doctor says.
your body will let you know if something is wrong, hopefully before somthing bad happens.
try not to worry if you han've had anything bad so far chances are you are going to have a healthy pregnancy/.\

congrats

The biggest thing a mother will notice is the lack of movement by the baby. Generally she'll start bleeding and everything that happens with an early pregnancy miscarriage will happen after 20 weeks. The biggest difference is the doctor will want you to come to the hospital to monitor you do to the higher risk of hemorage and also the higher likely hood of needing a D&C to complete the miscarriage.
Try not to stress over it too much. Once you are past the first trimester your risks of miscarriage drop by 90% from what I understand. The biggest risk of pregnancy loss after that is incomplete cervix.

Hi, i have no idea how the doctors would go about that, all i can say is that there is no point in you worrying about something negative happening, i know is hard, I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow and in the beginning i too worried about things like that, but then i realized it wasnt worth it. Worrying about is be more harmful to you and your baby. No worries you and your baby will be just great. Good luck, God bless!

I'm expecting twins, girl and boy, but they said the boy heart stop beating. I was 30 weeks. I couldn't believe I made it that far and they tell me something like that. I mean I had 10 more weeks left. But when I got to 20 weeks I was so happy because I knew that I was going to make it all the way to full term. I am now 39 weeks and he and she are still in there. They are going to consider it as a stillbirth. And make me carry both to full term. My baby girl is still alive and doing great. I'm so blessed to still have her.

generaly a loss after 20 weeks is first discovered when a mother has not felt her baby move for a day or so. The dr will usually confirm if the baby has died by listening for the heartbeat or looking for the heat on ultrasound. Labor may be induced to deliver the baby, or a d & e may be preformed. Its a terrible thing, but very rare.

your body will let you know if something is wrong. trust it. besides, your maternal instincts will start working as soon as you need it. to drive away those worries and fears, go to your ob. ask for an ultrasound test. once you see your fetus on the monitor, then you will be reassured that everything is ok. stop worrying. when we entertain negative emotions while pregnant, our body starts producing something that inevitably gets through the umbilical cord and might harm the unborn baby. so keep those sunshine thoughts and emotions in, do something that puts you in a positive mood, and immerse yourself into preparing for the coming of your baby rather than getting into unnecessary worries. congratulations!

That's why regular doctor visits are so important. My daughter is about 13 weeks, so I've been reading a lot. Oddly, many recommend carryint the baby to term anyway. It does make sense, I suppose.

You have to push it out like you would a regular baby. Or they'll give you a c-section....depending on the situation.

Try not to think about stuff like that, it just makes you miserable and worrisome and that's pointless.
